Sharing an Inspirational CA Story of CA Manoj Joshi who was motivated by his Dad to pursue CA. He is also a CS & CMA.
“I am from a Hindi medium school, so my English communication was weak back then. I could not manage college and Chartered Accountancy (CA) studies together, it was too much of English for me to grasp so I decided to pursue only B.Com and dropped the idea of pursuing CA,” says CA Manoj Joshi from Delhi, India.
IPCC Journey:
“It was my Dad’s dream I become a Chartered Accountant (CA). Hence after my graduation, I enrolled for CA. Being a graduate, I enrolled directly for PE-2 (2nd level CA exam, now known as IPCC) and cleared it in the 1st attempt itself. I started with my articleship in a small firm in Delhi.
CA Final Journey:
My CA Final 1st attempt was due in Nov 2009, which I failed miserably. I appeared again in May 2010 but due to exam pressure and fear of failure, I fell ill just before the exams. I somehow managed to give only Group 2 (CA Final has 2 groups, each group has 4 papers each). I cleared Group 2 this time. I was more confident now.
Dealing with my Dad’s sudden illness:
I started preparing for my CA Final – Group 1. However, life had other plans for me. One month before the exam my father had a major heart attack and a kidney failure. He had to be on dialysis. I was shattered. Words can’t express the difficulties we faced.
My father was fighting to stay alive, even when he was critical he did not give up on HOPE. I thought to myself – If he is not giving up, why should I? After all, it’s his dream to see me become a CA. This proved as a motivation and I started studying in the hospital as much as I could with HOPE TO SUCCEED. AND I DID SUCCEED. I cleared my exams that attempt and became a CA.
My father was very happy and said – Now I can die peacefully as my son is a CA, he will take care of things. And he did die 2 months after I Qualified as a CA. Encouraging me to study and pursue CA was one amazing gift given to me by my Dad.
Today I work with Harley-Davidson India and previously worked with Xerox India & KPMG India.
So for all those who feel like giving up, I have one thing to say – NEVER lose hope and work hard. Nothing is impossible. WORK HARD IN SILENCE, LET SUCCESS MAKE THE NOISE,” he concluded.
